20011/12 Winter Goalkeeper Training

This year I will be seperating the classes even more. The classes are now broken up into Advanced, Intermediate, and Youth.
Please read the descriptions and requirements for each class.  The reason for this change is for the proper development of the goalkeepers based on the guidelines set by US Socccer for goalkeeper development. These guidelines are below and should be read by all parents of goalkeeps attending training. These are the same guidelines that I have been following, but I am always looking for ways to improve my training and decided to better meet the needs of the goalkeepers we needed to make this change.

US Soccer Age Specific Development Program

Youth Training - Age U9 - U12
The goal of this age group is to introduce technique and make goalkeeping enjoyable. We will
focus on technical repitition, introduce b
asic tactics, c
oordination, movement and agility activities, and
play fun games that incorporate soccer and goalkeeping.

Intermediate
Training - Age U13 and UP
The focus of this class is technical repition working into functional and game related activities.
There will be more of a focus on technical details than in the advanced class. But we will
incorporate tactical training that the game now presents at this level.

Advanced Training - Age U15 and UP
The focus of this class will always have a technical base, but the students in this class NEED to be
proficient in the skills required to be successful at this age group. This will allow us to advance quicker
from technical to functional and then on to small sided games. There will also be more of a physical
element added to this class as the game now requires this as we get older.

Before you register:
1. Please read the US Soccer Age Specific Development Program
2. Do a self evaluation of your skills based on the US Soccer Age Specific Development Program.
The key to your development as a goalkeeper is honest and sometimes harsh self evaluation.
Use the US Soccer Age Specific Development Program and your self evaluation to find the class
that fits your skill level and will be challenging but give you the opportunity to have success.
3. The advanced class should not be chosen based on the age of the goalkeeper, but an honest
evaluation of whether or not you are proficient in the skills needed to compete at that level.
