Madison Gates
Senior Staff

Madison Gates is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Le Moyne College women’s soccer team after being named to the position in the Spring of 2010. Gates, a native of Baldwinsville, N.Y., spent the 2009 season as an assistant coach at Onondaga Community College. Gates helped lead the first-year program to the NJCAA Region III Tournament, where they lost in the opening round in a shootout.

Gates, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management in 2009 from the University of Michigan, played four seasons on the women’s soccer team for the Wolverines and logged more than 3,800 minutes as the goalkeeper. While in Ann Arbor, Gates earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the week honors and was named to Soccer America’s Women’s Team of the Week and the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week. Gates also spent time in the USL W League with three different teams: the Rochester Ravens, the Rochester Lady Rhinos and the Michigan Hawks.

On the scholastic level, Gates led the Baldwinsville High School soccer team to a New York State Class A State Championship in 2002. While tending goal for the Bees, she was also a member of the Syracuse Blitz Quake, a club team that won five New York State Cup Championships. Gates was a six-year member of the ‘87G New York State West Olympic Development Team and played four years with the ‘87G Region 1 ODP Team. With the Region 1 squad, she traveled to both Ireland and Spain for international tournaments. Gates was also selected to the USSF U-17 National Team Pool in 2003-2004 and the USSF U-20 National Team Pool in 2005-2006.

Gates has extensive work experience as a camp instructor, having worked for the Elite Keeper Academy, Region 1 ODP, SoccerPlus Camps, The University of Michigan and numerous camps throughout Central New York. Gates, who is currently working with the Empire United Soccer Academy, holds a USSF National “C” License.
